How do I take care of my net curtains?
Net curtains should be hand washed at regular intervals. Before washing shake off any dust and then immerse into lukewarm water with detergent (not bleach based). The curtains should be left to drip dry and can be ironed on a cool temperature if needed. However a helpful tip is to hang the net curtains whilst still damp and the creases will fall out so you do not have to iron anything.
Are the ready made curtains lined?
All of the ready made curtains come fully lined. Net curtains and voile panels are not lined.
Are the ready made curtains sold in pairs?
Yes. Ready made curtains are only sold in pairs. Products such as door curtains, voile panels, jardinieres etc. are sold singularly. Occasionally some voile panels are sold in pairs however we would make sure you are informed of this before you purchase the item.
What is gather for net curtains?
Gather refers to additional material you need so you will have pleating to your curtains. Without gather the net curtain would appear just flat at your window which ruins the look of the product and removes the privacy that curtains offer. For this reason we recommend a 2.5 times gather. This basically means that if your window was 100cm wide, we would recommend 250cm of curtain to cover that window. But this is all down to preference. With heavily patterned net curtains you can easily get away with a double gather (x2.0), however if you are going with a plain curtain then you may feel that you want a triple gather (x3.0) so you can have the privacy without pattern.
What are sides hemmed for net curtains?
Hemming on curtains is where the end of a net is folded over on itself and sewn along the edge. This is necessary for voile curtains as voile material will fray. For net curtains this is not required as net curtains do not fray like voiles, but hemming the sides does offer a more complete look and makes the net look more attractive. For this service we charge £5.00 per curtain and can take approximately 7 working days.
My drop is not a standard size?
If the length of your window is not one of our standard sizes, we can have curtains altered to fit your window. Make sure you have your drop in centimetres, there is a converter at the top of the page. With net curtains select the made to measure tab and enter the drop you require and the prices will be worked out for you. With voile panels and ready made curtains there will be a box on each page for alterations which again just asks for the drop you would like to have. The additional costs will automatically be worked out for you. The time taken on the alterations should take approximately 7 working days. We do not offer an alteration service for ready made blinds but they all come with instructions on how to alter the drops which is a simple process. If you have any problems please call 0800 65 88 0 22 and we will gladly help.
What is a voile panel?
Voile panels are ready made voiles that have already had the sides hemmed. They come pre packed and ready to hang but come in a smaller number of sizes than voile curtains off the roll. The widths are generally quite a standard size (approx 150cm) so you may need to have more than one panel per window. If you are not sure please send us an email or give us a call.
Does my net curtain come with a pocket at the top?
All of the net curtains we sell will have a slot top so it is ready to hang. There are three products we sell for this – curtain wire, net rods and tension rods.
